SMART BUSINESS SMART 50

In June 2016, Jill Rizika was named one of the Smart Business Smart 50. The award celebrates the top executives of the 50 smartest companies in the region for their ability to effectively build and lead successful organizations.

DOMINION COMMUNITY IMPACT

A panel of community judges selects the winners of this award, supported by Dominion East Ohio. TE was awarded for funding in support of WorkAdvance in March of 2016.

PARTNERSHIP

Towards Employment received the 2015 WIRE-Net Mission Builder Award. Since 1990, WIRE-Net has honored manufacturing companies that have a positive impact on Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

CHAMPION OF CHANGE

Jill Rizika, TE’s Executive Director, was honored as one of 16 2014 White House Reentry and Employment Champions of Change. Champions of Change is an opportunity for the White House to feature individuals across the nation doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their community. Per the White House, “The Champions have distinguished themselves through their extraordinary dedication and hard work to help those with criminal records reenter society with dignity and viable employment opportunities.”

PATHWAYS TO WORK

Towards Employment was one of 17 organizations awarded a US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant of $2,000,000 (over 39 months) to create career pathways for individuals coming home from incarceration via work release or halfway house programs.

TOP WORKPLACE

For two years in a row, TE is a Plain Dealer Top Workplace. Given TE’s focus on workplace development, this is truly meaningful.

TEAM NEO AWARDS

Towards Employment was awarded the 2014 Team NEO Economic Development Plus Award for its leadership of WorkAdvance, a regional workforce collaboration. WorkAdvance was nominated by NYC Center for Economic Opportunity.

PILLAR AWARD

Jill Rizika, Executive Director, was a recipient of a Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service in December 2014. She was honored as Executive Director of the Year. Presented by Smart Business Magazine, the Pillar Awards honor organizations and individuals committed to making a difference in NEO.

MOVE UP

Towards Employment is one of six awardees in the country to participate in MOVE UP, a W. K. Kellogg Foundation pilot study to increase workforce mobility and family economic security across the country.  TE will partner with University Hospitals, the Cleveland Clinic and The MetroHealth System to develop health care career pathways for parents that remove critical employment barriers and build employer-desired skills. Key collaborators include Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland, Neighborhood Connections, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and Cleveland Housing Network.
