Towards Employment’s overarching goal is to support the economic mobility of adults with barriers to employment, including but not limited to those with criminal justice involvement, so they can better care for their families and strengthen the community.

2015 priorities

  • Promote state and philanthropic investments in sector-specific, career pathway programming, including contextualized literacy and post-employment coaching as a best practice to improve opportunities for disadvantaged adults to gain and retain employment and advance to living wage jobs
  • Support businesses investing in their workers through increased/easier access to work-based learning opportunities, incumbent worker upskilling, and competency based hiring/advancement strategies
  • Increased access to career opportunities for individuals with criminal justice involvement including access to jobs in the healthcare sector and expanded adoption of the CQE
